The Sims 3 Late Night Launch Trailer

The Sims 3 Late Night is the third expansion pack for The Sims 3. It is very reminiscent of an older expansion pack from The Sims 2 titled The Sims 2: Nightlife which in itself was reminiscent of an expansion pack of The Sims titled The Sims: Hot Date. It also incorporates some elements from The Sims: House Party, The Sims: Superstar, and The Urbz: Sims in the City.

This expansion pack also introduces a brand new city neighborhood named ‘Bridgeport’, based on the city of San Francisco and the home of Tinseltown, Los Angeles which is divided into two different districts similar to the one found in The Urbz: Sims in the City.

Major additions in The Sims 3: Late Night include night clubs, bars, with new careers, skills and traits. New Create-A-Sim sliders for muscle definition and breast size are also added to the game. The expansion pack also features elevators, and apartments, which was a feature introduced in The Sims 2: Apartment Life. However, these apartments work differently in that only one family may live in a predefined space within an apartment “shell”. Vampires, first appearing in The Sims 2: Nightlife, are reintroduced in the game. Key differences between those from in the second generation include their abilities to read minds, learn skills at an accelerated rate, and run faster.

Discover life after dark in The Sims™ 3 Late Night Expansion Pack! Wherever your Sims go, they’ll discover new things to become—adored celebrities, all-night partiers, rowdy bandmates, or alluring vampires. What will your Sims get up to after dark?

The Sims Medieval

Go back in time and get medieval! The EA Play Label of EA today announced The Sims Medieval, a new series currently in development that places the popular Sims characters from The Sims game into the Middle Ages and brings players robust, compelling gameplay never seen before in the history of The Sims. For the first time, players can create heroes, venture on quests, build and control a kingdom, and play every Hero Sim character in the land. Creativity will soar as players tell stories like never before full of drama, romance, conflict, and comedy.

“The Middle Ages is a time of intrigue, legend, and excitement. It offers a perfect backdrop for a brand new series from The Sims studio due to the limitless stories that can be told,” said Scott Evans, General Manager of The Sims Studio at EA. “The Sims Medieval offers a new way for players to experience The Sims which we hope fans will enjoy, and it features gameplay that fans of strategy and role-playing games will find appealing such as controlling an entire kingdom and quest-based gameplay mechanics.”

The Sims Medieval offers players a chance to build up a medieval kingdom, controlling characters from all walks of life, from Kings and Queens, to Knights and Wizards, Blacksmiths and Bards. It provides a host of storytelling possibilities in the form of quests, from crafting a legendary sword to arranging a royal wedding, to protecting the kingdom from an evil sorcerer, to finding the fountain of youth. Every quest plays out differently depending on which Hero Sim the player is controlling.

The destiny of the kingdom rests in the players’ hands. Will players build up their kingdom through internal expansion, or perhaps look for a more imperial type of domination, expanding their rule by conquering territories? Will they take on quests in pursuit of fame, or focus on the health and wellbeing of their people? The choice is theirs! With the start of every new game, players will be able to select a new ambition for their kingdom, and embark on a new set of stories.

Everything in The Sims Medieval is crafted to create an immersive medieval world, from the quest-based gameplay, to the medieval objects such as swords and stocks and thrones, right down to the warm look of the characters, and the painterly approach to the world itself. Players can choose to customize every new Hero that comes to the kingdom, including selecting their traits and their fatal flaw. Players get close to their characters, not only sending them on epic quests, but also making sure they carry out their daily responsibilities such as healing the sick, trading for exotic goods, or forging armor. From having a baby to competing in a royal tournament, what happens to their Sims is up to the player. The time of romance and chivalry is back with The Sims Medieval.

Developed by The Sims Studio, The Sims Medieval for PC / Mac will be available in spring 2011 and has not yet been rated by the ESRB. For more information about The Sims Medieval please visit the Official Website.

The Sims 3 Launch

Finally, the long awaited Sims new version is launched. It was first released on June 2, 2009 simultaneously for Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows. The Sims 3 is built upon the same concept as its predecessors. Players control their Sims in various activities and form relationships in a manner similar to real life. The Sims 3, like The Sims and The Sims 2, does not have a defined goal, and gameplay is open-ended and indefinite.

Sim houses and neighborhoods are entirely in one continuous map. The developers stated, “What you do outside your home now matters as much as what you do within.” The game includes an optional feature called “Story Progression”, which allows all Sims in the neighborhood to autonomously continue as if the player was controlling them, such as grow up, get married, get jobs and promotions, have children, build or buy their dream house while the player isn’t playing.

The Sims 2 used a reward system called Wants and Fears. This is replaced with a new system called Wishes in The Sims 3. Fulfilling a Sim’s wish contributes to the Sim’s Lifetime Happiness score and mood. Some wishes, such as “Go to the Park”, may add little points to their lifetime happiness while “Have A Baby Boy” may add thousands of points. In The Sims 2, Wants and Fears also contributed to a Sim’s “Aspiration” meter, roughly analogous to current self-esteem. In The Sims 3, Aspiration is removed entirely, replaced with “Moodlets”, which contribute positive or negative values to the original Motivation meter. Moodlets can be inspired by physical events, such as having a good meal or comfort from sitting in a good chair, as well as emotional events like a first kiss or a break-up. Most moodlets last for a set duration, but some negative Moodlets can be cured (such as the one incurred by an urgent need to urinate) and some positive ones rely on the Sim’s surroundings and traits.

Sims live for a set duration of time (adjustable by the player) and advance through several stages (baby, toddler, child, teen, young adult, adult, and elder). Sims can die of old age or they can die prematurely from causes such as fire, starvation, drowning, electrocution, (as of the World Adventures expansion pack) The Mummy’s curse, (as of the Ambitions expansion pack) a meteor, and (as of the Late Night expansion pack) by thirst (vampires only).

The Sims 3 Trailer

Today, Electronic Arts announced that the release of The Sims 3 was delayed to June 2, 2009. They have also published the game’s latest trailer.

The Sims 3 will be the next generation in the The Sims series and was recently delayed from February to June 2009. Russel Arons, the Vice President of Marketing for EA, stated: “the June launch (…) gives us the perfect runway to create awareness for The Sims 3 (…)”.

The Sims 2

The Sims 2 is the sequel to the best-selling computer game, The Sims, which debuted on December 14, 2000. It was released on September 17, 2004; becoming an instant success, having sold a then-record one million copies in its first ten days. Along with the core game, Electronic Arts has released six expansion packs and seven stuff packs. Mark Mothersbaugh composed the music for the game.

The Sims 2 generally follows the same concept as The Sims. The players control their Sims, as they interact with their virtual surroundings, engaging in various different activities and forming relationships in a manner similar to real life. Like its predecessor, The Sims 2 does not have a defined final goal; gameplay is open-ended. They do, however, have life goals, wants and fears, the fulfillment of which can have good or bad effects. There is also a wide-range of cheats to be used. All Sims age, and generally live up to sixty five Sim days, if the controller treats their Sim well.

The Sims 2 builds on its predecessor by allowing Sims, the simulated human characters, to age through six stages of life and incorporating a more powerful 3D graphics engine. As of July 2007, the base game has sold more than 13 million units worldwide, making it the 2nd best selling PC game of all time, only behind the original The Sims. A sequel, The Sims 3, was announced in November 2006 by EA to be released sometime in 2009.

The Sims Introduction

Ever owned an ant farm? Wanted to be a mad scientist? A cloning geneticist? Sit-com director? God? You’re in luck.

You get to play at all those things in The Sims, the latest life simulation computer game from Maxis and Electronic Arts. It was created by game designer Will Wright, also known for developing SimCity. It is a simulation of the daily activities of one or more virtual persons (“Sims”) in a suburban household near SimCity. This game allows you to create a fully-realized, populated neighborhood of “Sims,” virtual people whose lives you control. Live out your darkest fantasies or just try to get along-the game experience is wide-open.

Instead of objectives, the player is encouraged to make choices and engage fully in an interactive environment. This has helped the game successfully attract more casual gamers. The only real objective of the game is to organize the Sims’ time to help them reach personal goals.

The Sims was first released on February 4, 2000. By March 22, 2002, The Sims had sold more than 6.3 million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling PC game in history; the game has shipped 16 million copies worldwide as of February 7, 2005. Since its initial release, seven expansion packs and sequels, The Sims 2 and the newest sequel The Sims 3 (each with their own expansion packs), have been released [update 2009]. The Sims has won numerous awards, including GameSpot’s “Game of the Year Award” for 2000.
